The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Anger About Sizing Updates
Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has revised its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Response
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with similar services.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Changes
Earlier, the sizes had both one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Stories
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options after backlash from users.
